Sounds like a test that needs to be added to his annual checkup, that occur every few months .

Lee Camp's avatar

Absolutely!

Instead of only testing people who will assume certain roles or professions, such as Congress Critters, why not test everyone at a certain age? Since such personality disorders are incompatible with society, it behooves society to identify such people, and doing so has the advantage that they could receive psychological counseling.

IMHO every bully is a psycho-/sociopath. We could definitely begin prunning at pre-school.

JustMyOpinion's avatar

Like Jinger said above it could be added to annual checkups. Or maybe like a colonoscopy every couple or few years and for sure when they register to run for office.

Karl Brainard's avatar

We could even combine the tests. If the heads of the people being tested get in the way of inserting the colonoscope, they're probably sociopathic.

As much as I understand the impulse, this sounds like a highway to Hell (and not the cool AC/DC kind). It's the kind of Woodrow Wilson authoritarian Progressivism that has cast a long and grim shadow over everything since; I can hear George Will screaming from here.

Wellโ€”that does explain a lotโ€ฆ. And I would imagine a Zionist society represents even greater concentrations!

Carolyn L Zaremba's avatar

Zionists are pure psychopaths.

FlawedHumanity's avatar

That would be interesting!

Lee Camp's avatar

Interesting to say the least!

For sure any and all people running for office ought to be willing to voluntarily take a sociopathy test. Flag them green (not a socioath), yellow (keep your eye on them) or red (not eligible for office) . I mean literally every photo or post could have a little flag on it somewhere.

Love it

Thanks, Lee! I first started seeing talk of sociopathy and psychopathy in the discussion forums (following written articles) around 2003 (US invasion of Iraq), and it has been my go-to 'explanation' for many of the world's ills ever since.

The podcast, This American Life, did an episode on this, many years ago. My recollection is that a psychologist during or right after WWII developed such a test, for the express purpose of filtering out such people from any decision-making authority. However, the program ended with our education system applying the test to school children, and no one else

Another aspect of this are the "cultures" that sociopaths engender in organizations, which makes the organizations likely to continue in the same vein (and attracts sociopaths to be members -- thus perpetuating the anti-social ideas and actions ... over generations).

This is NOT unique to the US, or to capitalism, but the US environment may be particularly suitable for the personality-type

This line-of-thinking needs to be widely discussed

Thanks. Good points

Your excellent observations highlight the critical importance of a society that recognizes, fosters and supports kindness, caring, compassion and faithful adherence to the "social contract."

Good idea. Of course, if that was actually implemented, 99% of high up positions of power would be vacant, permanently. Which would create a vacuum of power and that could be good, because NOBODY in power to make awful decisions like more pipelines, bombs and AI surveillance centre builds would be a good reprieve from the chaos. And people might realize they never needed hierarchical power structures to begin with. The community councils they (hopefully) have already established like a sustainability advocacy group or a Cooperative incubator organization, will naturally take the place of the former hierarchical power structures that once ruled.

I think humans, deep down, know, that we were never meant to be ruled. We weren't ruled by a small, psychopathic elite for 90% of human history - in fact, anthropological evidence indicates healthy egalitarian tribes actually selected OUT that kind of anti-social behaviour through shunning, mockery and popular resistance to allowing them to try and obtain dominance roles.

Build horizontal community POWER. (P = People over profits, O = Our right to self-determination, W = Workplace democracy, E = Equity and autonomy, R = Resistance to Empire)

Like Rage Against The Machine said, "We've got to take the power back!"

Great points

Psychopaths/socipaths getting all top roles in any society (but especially in Capitalism, almost tailored for them) and organization is the most important problem that Humanity has to face if it wants to survive and become something better.

Once again you nail it, Lee, by bringing to our attention one of the most important issues in society, economy, religion and politics.

Isnโ€™t sociopathy a consequence of capitalism and not the other way around? Those oligarchs have their paths up to power because of a system that is rigged in their favour.

At the minimum it should be included with the routine cognitive tests. Never know it might have old age onset

I am not convinced that RFK Jnr is a sociopath, as. he has worked tirelessly to improve people's health and the environment.

And many employers do carry out psychometric testing as part of their recruitment procedures. However I have long suspected that many of them are looking to rule sociopaths in and not out!

Jane Wilding's avatar

In principle it's a fab idea, but of course it wouldn't work for the very reason the rest of the system doesn't work. It only takes a bribe to that 'analyst' performing the assessment for the sociopath to get through. Just as it only takes a bribe from AIPAC for that Zionist legislation to get through. a far better means of weeding out the sociopaths is either sortition or a wages cap (a very low one, so that everyone has enough to buy what they need and no more). That would also sort out the environment, consumption, overshoot, climate change, global hunger, water wars, every other kind of wars...
